Western Australian
tennis star Casey Dellacqua has this week been selected by the Australian
Olympic Committee (AOC) for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Dellacqua will partner 2011 US Open Champion Sam Stosur
in the women’s doubles for Australia, with the pair forming part of the
six-member Australian tennis team at London’s All England Club.
London will represent a second Olympic campaign for Dellacqua,
who also competed in the women’s singles and doubles at the Beijing Olympics in
2008.
Doubles is a format in which Dellacqua excels, having won
the 2011 French Open Mixed Doubles Grand Slam title alongside American Scott
Lipsky.
Dellacqua’s selection has taken WA’s numbers for the
London Games to 39 athletes.
