WAIS Stars Shine in Selection Trials

Day One of
the Australian athletics Selection Trials has produced some strong results for
WAIS athletes with Kylie Wheeler and John Steffensen both enjoying good form in
Wheeler is a near certainty to book her Beijing ticket after a fine display in the
Women's Heptathlon. Wheeler recorded the fastest time in the 200metres Open, the
fastest time in the 100metres Hurdles Open, finished third in the High Jump
with a best of 1.77metres and claimed second in the Shot Put Open with a best
Steffensen was victorious in his heat for the Men's 400metres after clocking a
time of 46.78secs with Mark Ormrod 46.65secs quickest in heats representing SAIS.
Women's 400metres Hurdles WAIS star Lyndsay Pekin won her heat with a good time
Jumper Emma Knight won her heat with a best mark of 13.07metres.
