Softball
The WAIS Softball program is a squad-based program. It focuses on the development of individual athletes whom it is believed can progress to national representative level.

Squad Structure
Nationally identified athletes
Those athletes currently in national squads – the AIS squad, the National Women’s Development Squad and the National Under 19 Youth Squad.

This group includes several development level athletes, identified through the national under 16 program.

Athletes identified within WA
A small group of athletes who may not, as yet, have caught the eye of the national selectors, but whom the selection panel believe can progress to the national level.

Under the direction of the current Head Coach, WAIS works closely with WASA to ensure that underpinning programs are established and that they provide WAIS and through WAIS, the national programs with the necessary raw material.

The WAIS Softball Squad is reviewed in March of each year.
Athletes may be added or deleted from the squad based on their commitment and adherence to the program.

Staff
  • The program is staffed by one full-time Head Coach.
  • Part-time assistant coaches and specialist coaches are utilised where a need is identified and suitable coaches available.
  • An important aspect of the coaching structure within the total Softball NTC Program is the availability and utilisation of specialist coaches from other NTC’s whenever practicable.
