Water Polo (Women)

The WAIS Women’s Water Polo Program is a squad-based program. It centres on the development, and preparation for international competition, of identified talented players who are currently at, or can progress to, the national representative level in the following three age groups: Under 17 (Youth), Under 20 (Junior) and Senior (Open).
Squad Structure The squad is divided into two groups:
- Athletes who are current national team and/or squad members in their respective age groups at the time of squad selection – these athletes receive priority in terms of competition funding.
- Athletes who are recognised as high potential for national team and/or squad selection in their respective age groups. These athletes receive a reduced level of funding for competition expenses.
The underpinning programs are the responsibility of WAWPI. These programs are predominantly developmental in nature and feed into the state underage representative teams.
Staff The program is staffed by one full-time Head Coach.
Two part-time assistant coaches perform a limited amount of assistant/specialist coaching with the WAIS Squad, particularly during the general preparation periods.
In addition, the program maintains the services of a specialist swimming coach.
