Nine time world champion Cameron Meyer will compete at a second Olympic Games after being selected to the Australian Olympic Team for Tokyo.

13 years after lining up on the track in Beijing, WAIS graduate, Meyer will again pull on the green and gold skinsuit this time in the road race. The reigning dual national road champion will be looking to add Olympic success to his impressive palmares that included four Commonwealth Games gold, Australian and Oceania titles in addition to his nine elite world titles on the track.

Meyer is joined in the four member men’s road team by Tour de France podium finisher Richie Porte, dual time trial world champion Rohan Dennis and rising star Jack Haig.

“Congratulations to all the cyclists selected today for the Australian Olympic Team for Tokyo,” said Chef de Mission of the Australian Olympic Team Ian Chesterman.

“The Team includes a vast array of experience and success at the highest levels, which will prove invaluable as they take on the best in the world in Tokyo.

“The road cyclists are all currently training and racing in challenging conditions around the world, and today’s selection is testament to the incredible effort and determination they have shown throughout their riding careers.”

Meyer is the third Western Australian cyclist to be selected for Tokyo, joining fellow WAIS graduates Matt Richardson and Sam Welsford.
