WAIS scholarship holder Kim Mickle has continued her impressive form streak, winning the javelin competition in Pihtipudas, Finland on Sunday.

Mickle – who represented Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne – set a winning mark of 61.83m to edge out local Finnish athlete Mikealia Ingburg who threw 61.03m.

Mickle had to contend with a bout of illness and nerves in her first competition in Europe in the lead up to the World Championships, which will be held in Berlin, Germany in August.

It was the sixth competition in a row that the 24 year-old has consistently passed the sixty metre mark, encouraging signs ahead of her first world championships campaign in less than seven weeks time.

Mickle has also been blogging for / during her stay in Finland, to read Kim’s blog click here.
