WAIS cyclist Emily McRedmond has competed in the junior girl’s individual time trial at the 2013 UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Florence, finishing 32nd.

McRedmond stopped the clock in 23:49.84mins over the 16.27km course but her time was more than a minute off that of gold medallists’ Eraud Severine of France (22:45.32).

Two of McRedmond’s compatriots adorned the medal ceremony steps, with Alexandra Nicholls and Alexandra Manly claiming silver and bronze medals respectively behind the world champion Severine.

McRedmond – who is competing at her first Road World Championships – will also contest the junior girl’s road race which is held on Friday.

Still to race for Australia, are fellow WAIS scholarship holders Brand Lindfield in the U23 men’s road race and Cameron Meyer in the elite men’s road race.
