WA Trio Selected for London Paralympics

Western Australian athletes Madison de Rozario, Sam Harding and Brad Scott were today part of 36 athletes officially selected on the Australian Athletics Team for the London Paralympics.

The announcement made in Brisbane by the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) added to the seven previously nominated athletes, finalizing a 43-strong contingent set to take on the world in London.

At just 18 years of age, WAIS athlete de Rozario is headed for a second Paralympic campaign, having won silver as a member of the Australian 4x100m relay team in Beijing in 2008.

Harding – who holds both WAIS and AIS scholarships – will make his Paralympic debut in London, competing in the 800m. Outside of athletics he is studying massage therapy.

AIS athlete Brad Scott will make his second Paralympic appearance in London, having won silver in Beijing in the 800m. At 24 years of age, Scott is again considered a strong medal chance in the T37 class.

The London Paralympic Games will take place from 29 August through to 9 September, 2012.

The athletics announcement takes Western Australia’s numbers for the London Paralympics to five, following the earlier selection of powerlifter Darren Gardiner and sailor Colin Harrison.
