A number of young Western Australian diving talents have executed good performances at the Australian Diving Championships in Sydney this week, taking on the best Australian diving has to offer.

WAIS divers Tamara Irvine, Nikita Hains and Teju Williamson have been competing across the Women’s 3m, Women’s Platform and Women’s Platform Synchro events, showing strong performances, challenging a number of experienced competitors.

Competing in the Women’s 3m event, Tamara Irvine finished in 7th place in the finals with a score of 256.20.

This result showed great progression on her performances in both the semi-final and preliminary rounds where Irvine found herself in 12th place on both occasions.

Williamson and Hains went head to head in the Women’s Platform event.

After coming second in the semi-final with an outstanding score of 308.50, Teju Williamson finished the final in 7th place.

Hains went from strength to strength, improving on her earlier performances to finish in 6th place in the finals scoring 274.50.

Well practiced synchro pairing Tamara Irvine and Nikita Hains entered a pool of three teams contesting the Women’s Platform Synchro title.

Despite their best efforts they were unable to knock off their well experienced competitors finishing in third place with a score of 257.97.

Also competing at the Championships was Western Australian Rio Olympian, Maddison Keeney.

Keeney had a fantastic week finishing first in the Women’s 1m final, third in the Women’s 3m final, first in the Women’s 3m Synchro final and first in the Mixed 3m Synchro final.

Keeney’s performances earned her selection on the Australian Diving Team for the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest.
