WAIS handcyclists Nigel Barley and Craig Parsons have been named on the Australian team to compete at this year’s UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Greenville, USA.

The duo join a 13-strong squad to represent Australia from August 28 – September 1 at an event featuring over 400 of the world’s best Para-cyclists from approximately 40 countries.

The championships will include individual time trial and road race disciplines for men, women and teams during the five-day Championships.

Barley, a London Paralympic medallist, will contest the H3 classification, hoping to add to the bronze medal he won at last year’s world championships, whilst Parsons, who competes in the H1 class, is aiming for a maiden world championship medal.

Australia found the podium nine times at the 2013 World Para-cycling Championships in Canada last August, walking away with four world titles and five bronze medals.
