Western Australian Institute of Sport athletes Tessa Parkinson and Chelsea Hall will put their new combination to its biggest test later this month when they take on the 49er World Championships in Marseille, France.

The duo paired together just recently in an attempt to forge a successful combination towards the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Parkinson is no stranger to Olympic success – having won gold with fellow West Australian Elise Rechichi in the 470 class in Beijing in 2008.

Hall similarly comes from a 470 background, having won a youth world championship in the classification before venturing into other classes.

Combined, the pair will tackle the newly established Olympic class in the women’s 49er ranks with its new Olympic status meaning many experienced sailing athletes from around the world have switched to the class – in an attempt to break into Olympic selection calculations.

The 49er World Championships in France, run from September 24 – 27 results and information can be followed here.
